Groceries

Okay, so in my move to North Carolina from Texas and from a large metroplex to a RURAL town. Or perhaps I should say settlement? There is no grocery store. There are no stoplights. There is no fast food. Are you getting the picture here?? I do have a walmart (kill me) about 25 minutes away as well as a piggly wiggly (I know, right? I didn't know those still existed!)

One of the largest adjustments is dealing with the cost of food. I am spending easily triple what I used to. Meat does not go on sale here. Why is produce SO expensive when all I see around me are farms?? I go to a literal farm stand and a pound of tomatoes is $3. We split part of a cow with another family, had it butchered, and it came out to over $4/lb!!!! Shouldn't having your own cow be cheaper than the store? Maybe in some places it is, but here? NOPE.

Anyway, my husband has told me that I can't spend money anymore. But, not like that. Not like it sounds. He has 1 more year of his Masters degree left and then we are going to try and buy a house again. So we need some bank to do so. I am going to TRY my hardest to keep my grocery budget for a family of 6 to $200/month. I've budgeted $250 just in case, but I think I'm going to try and do 2 weeks worth of grocery shopping at a time so I don't have to drive so much. Once I've got a game plan for the first 2 weeks of Jan, I'll post it and keep you updated on how it's going.

Merry Christmas!

I am in AR, originally from NC and you have me so curious to where you moved to in NC! :) I lived in a place VERY similar to what you just described---although Stedman does have a stoplight these days. lol

What is Stitch Fix? Review #1

Today I got my very first stitch fix and I'm so excited! First of all, what is it?

It's a monthly subscription clothing box. You pay $20 for a stylist to pick out some clothes for you based on height, preference, what you post on your Pinterest board, etc. They send you 5 items to try on at home with things you already own and you can pick whatever ones you want to keep. The $20 works as a credit toward anything you keep. You send back the rest and wait for your next box!

I decided to try this out because I don't really have stores for clothes shopping in my area. Plus, it's fun!

Do you want to try it out? Check it out here.

Okay, here is what I got in my first box:

They always send this cool styling card to show how to wear the clothes.

Don't mind my crazy face. These are the Mavi Freida Skinny Jeans.

Paired with the Pixley Tracy Dot Print Cross Back Knit Top

Added my jacket and the Octavia Jolene Zipper Flap Crossbody Bag.

Then I decided to pair with a skirt and …
